An amazing race!

OBY had a load of fun on Friday night at the Amazing Race...
32 people came along, swapped shoes and hit the road.
We climbed the muddy hills, drunk the poo ponds water (?), and had a great time at laserstrike.
Supper was back at the Youth Centre, before heading for home.
Next GO is the movie Madagascar on Friday 22, and before that come along to Sprout on Friday night (15 August) in the Youth Centre, from 7pm.

Altar Worship Night

Hey everyone... Altar Worship Night is on this Saturday 7pm at North-West New Life (La Vida Conference Centre, Hansens Lane, Riccarton).

It's a citywide youth event that's main purpose is to worship God! It's going to be awesum.

"On the 18th of August 2007, hundreds of young people from different churches all over Christchurch will converge for Altar '07, one night of worship, for our God. There will be corporate worship, performance music, painting, multimedia, dance and reflection; everything to give glory to the Lord.

On that night, we will not be defined by our churches' denominations, we will not be divided by minor differences in theology, or the type of service we attend. Instead, the youth of Christchurch will be united with one cause, to lift up the name of Jesus across our city and give thanks to our God for all that He is and all that He has done.

This event is for all the young people of Christchurch, and will happen only through the support of the young people of Christchurch. The band will be made up of musicians from different churches and youth ministries, and the dance crews and other artists will be a representation of all the awesome gifts and talents God has given people all over the city.

Start spreading the word, altar '07 is the start of something awesome in our city!"

No Wednesday Nite Youthgroup in Holidays - starts back 18th July.

Hanmer Weekend – 6-8th July
Yeeyip, OBY are off to Hanmer for the weekend. Ahhh hot pools, mountain biking, mini-golf, hanging out, devotions, top quality times… Meet 7pm tonight at church.

Koru dates coming up…
Note there is no Koru on 6th July cas we are going to Hanmer.

We are giving away 10 free tickets to Koru kids to come to the Mid-winter Christmas Dinner (first in first served).

The next Koru is 20th July – we are going to QE2 for a swim & slide. It will only cost $2.50 and the hydroslide is free (yip for the leaders as well!). Will be great nite.

Mid-Winter Christmas Dinner
The annual Mid-Winter Christmas Dinner is coming up on Friday 13th July. It’s going to be a great night out! 3 course meal… snow…. Christmas decorations… good food… good company!

Tickets cost $15 adult or $8 child (13 & under) or $40 Family (2 adults & 2 children). Buy tickets after service at church or from church office. Limited seats – note it sold out last year!!

Digestion
This Sunday night July 8th - Jason and Mark are preaching! Oh yeah. The following week July 15th it's Lydia & Amy. The week after July 22nd - Steve J and Steve T are preaching!

OBY DVD Nite
The next OBY DVD nite is on Sat 28th July @ 7pm. Cruise down to the youth centre to chill out, watch a DVD. Bring some food to share. No cost. Warwick is organising.

Youth Service
The next Youth Service is on Sunday 29th July. Mark this in your diary's now!

Wotsup OBY 2007!

Happy New Year!!!

Hope you are having awesum holidays & enjoying the summer (when the sun comes out anyway!)

It feels like ages since youthgroup finished last year aye… so will be good to get together again. We’ll crank up the year with a BBQ & Beach Nite on Wednesday 31^st Jan – meet @ 6pm youth centre. Bring along some food/drink to share, & any sports equipment or games you want. Good chance to invite a friend along to yg. The following Wednesday 7^th Feb we’ll be back in the youth centre.

If you have any ideas for youthgroup this year… please email/text/talk to Amy or one of the youth leaders. We’d love to hear your ideas for topics, events, games, Wednesday nights, socials etc

Digestion is running BBQ’s in January (21^st Jan @ Curries House Ave, 27^th Jan @ Taylor’s). Digestion starts back officially on Feb 4.

Please pray for those going to Parachute Music Festival (26-29^th Jan) that they’ll keep safe, have fun & grow heaps in God.
