OBY exists to help our young people to grow in relationship with God, to build friendships with others; encouraging them to use their gifts and share God's love through their lives.

Bouncy Boxing here we come...

It's official... we are having Bouncy Boxing this Saturday at Spencer Park!!!

For those who don't know what Bouncy Boxing is... you jump around in a big bouncy castle, put on massive gloves that are wwwaaaaaaay too big for your wee hands, then try and lift them high enough to knock down your opponent! Sound fun?! It is.

If that's not your thing, that's cool. They'll be sports to play, grass to sit on, a playround to play on and of course a good old bbq to eat from ;)

We'll then cruise to Rands & Kates for sum dessert.

Meet at 3:30pm at church with $5. Good chance to bring a mate along to join in on the fun!

You can make the world of difference...

You can make the world of difference by doing the 40 hour famine.

What's involved?
  1. Get a famine pack from Amy
  2. Choose famine type - food, techno etc
  3. Get sponsors
  4. Do famine
  5. Collect money & complete booklet
  6. Hand back to Amy with money

Please note OBY are doing the famine the week before on 10-12 March (because church woman's camp & U2 concert is on 17-19 March).

To celebrate the famine, and help get you through the last excruitating & painful hours of the famine, we are going to have a sleepover! Will be heaps of fun. Games, movies etc. Get an info/rego form from church!

Imagine what OBY would look like...

As read out last night

Because your "...tongue has the power of life and death." Prov 18:21

"Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you." Eph 4:32

"Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience." Col 3:12

For those going back to school this week!

Something to cheer you up!

_________________________________________________________

A child comes home from his first day at school.

His Mother asks,

"Well, what did you learn today?"

The kid replies,

"Not enough. They want me to come back tomorrow."

____________________________________________________

Stressing the importance of a good vocabulary, the teacher told her young charges,

"Use a word ten times, and it shall be yours for life."

From somewhere in the back of the room, came a small male voice chanting,

"Amanda, Amanda, Amanda, Amanda, Amanda, Amanda, Amanda, Amanda, Amanda, Amanda."

Q: What did the instructor at the school for Kamikaze pilots say to his students?

A: Watch closely. I'm only going to do this once.

____________________________________________________

A professor was giving a big test one day to his students. He handed out all of the tests and went back to his desk to wait.

Once the test was over the students all handed the tests back in. The professor noticed that one of the students had attached a $100 bill to his test with a note saying: "A dollar per point."

The next class the professor handed the tests back out. This student got back his test and $64 change.

Babysitter?

A woman came to church yesterday, looking for a babysitter for her 7 year old boy. She is involved with an Orchestra in Christchurch which involves some nights out practicing.

She wants someone 14 years or over and can only pay $10 a night. The nights are variable, but she can let you know the exact dates. The job could be shared with someone for different nights. She lives in Opawa and can provide transport if you live nearby.

If this sounds like you, contact Amy for more info or to get her details.

Digestion!

Digestion may be a word you have not heard for awhile (unless you had stomach issues over the christmas holidays). It may seem a distant memory that we met together on a Sunday night to worship God, digest some bible text and cruise to Coffee Culture for supper! Never fear... Digestion is nearly here.

Digestion is starting up again this Sunday Night with a BBQ at 6pm. So bring a drink/salad or meat to share. Will be a good night.
